Trump Invites Families of Shot Military Soldiers to the Presidential Residence

President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Devastating Incident

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief said he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Support

Community members gathered over the past few days at the high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to support public safety in the capital.

Honoring Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” the principal, the head of her previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always ready to help others.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident caused the government to pause refugee claims and temporarily stop granting visas to holders of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader the governor said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general stated on a news show that she aimed to meet with the family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with honor, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of kindness and she certainly had courage,” he addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
