Intense storms over the recent period have compounded the already dire situation of the vast number of uprooted residents in the Gaza Strip, as stated by relief agencies.
"Horrendous" Night Brings Severe Threats
A spokesman characterized the recent storm as "awful", with downpours so intense that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.
"The recent weather was truly horrendous for the people. The heavy rains were so strong... And the gusts were so forceful," stated the official.
Authorities voice extreme concern that young ones residing in tents in soaked clothing will succumb to hypothermia and other illnesses.
Fatalities and Significant Loss
The health ministry have reported that one baby has died from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in building collapses triggered by the storms.
