Three-time NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee when the Nuggets fell 147-123 at the Heat.

Jokic was hurt late in the first half during an unintentional contact with teammate Jones.

Jones came down on the foot of Jokic, and he immediately collapsed to the floor grabbing his leg.

The 30-year-old, that is leading the NBA season in boards and dimes, had a score of 21 points and eight assists in the contest prior to suffering the setback.

The player will undergo an scan on the following day to assess the extent of the injury.

"Instantly, he knew he was hurt," stated Denver head coach Adelman.

"This happens in professional sports. Any player that is injured, that's difficult, most notably a player as talented as he is. More information will come tomorrow."

"The team will adjust as a team. Of course, right now, I'm focused just about Jokic personally and the letdown of facing an event of that nature."
