Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his future following another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve matches, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from above,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points naturally but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his squad in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period of this nature with performances this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
