It: Welcome to Derry Debuts Second Ahead of Schedule on HBO's Digital Service

Fans are eagerly awaiting for the Stephen King adaptation Welcome to Derry, which is garnering praise and weaving in elements from other Stephen King works. Now, the network has revealed that episode two will premiere ahead of schedule, released fittingly for October 31st.

Early Release Information

Beginning on Halloween night at 3 a.m. EST, episode two of It: Welcome to Derry will make its debut on the streaming service, ahead of its traditional TV airing. Subsequent episodes of the series run will continue to air on Sundays on HBO and HBO Max, building toward the season finale on the 14th of December.

Series Overview

Taking place within the Derry mythology, the new series is inspired by King’s iconic novel while enlarging the universe established by director Andy Muschietti in the recent movie adaptations. It Chapter One centered on kids and teens battling unimaginable horrors, thus it's suitable that this show follows in those footsteps. Yet, the premiere episode of the streaming show shows it set out to escalate the fear, offering even more intense scares than Muschietti’s films and creating a brutal tone for the upcoming episodes.

Story World and Concepts

Set in 1962, the series presents a new generation of adults and children residing in a outwardly charming locale concealing a sinister core. The town follows a cruel, recurring cycle—one marked by violence, bigotry, and the supernatural, as a monstrous presence resurfaces every 27 years. Although It: Welcome to Derry might seem like it leans too heavily to the films at first, what distinguishes the streaming show is its dual perspective—unfolding through the viewpoints of young and old concurrently. The kids remain especially susceptible to the monster's horror, but the adults aren’t spared dealing with their personal demons arising from local discrimination and covert otherworldly powers.

Episode 2 premieres on the 31st of October at 3 a.m. EST.
