Fresh Information Emerge Regarding the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
New information has come to light concerning the shocking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were found at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.
A Discovery
As detailed in an account citing a person close to the family, a practitioner arriving for an session first raised the alarm after failing to get inside the house. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. Reports state she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Following this, first responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Proceedings
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained and denied bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source challenged several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
The source also disputed widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's behavior in recent weeks. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to reports of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source noted they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
As stated by law enforcement officials, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the condition of their bodies implied they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
