Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a former physician now faces charges for committing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the relevant police force.
