Both Deceased Students Identified in the Providence Campus Incident as Law Enforcement Press On With Hunt for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the recent violent attack on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their assailant continued following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a service on Sunday.

Cook was vice-president of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also posted words of sorrow online, saying in part: “There are no words. Remembering her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

An International Student

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, family members said.

The victim's identification was verified by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He harbored grand aspirations of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine more persons were wounded in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a raid at a Hampton Inn about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you must reassess and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Public Fear

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “It is expected to provoke fresh anxiety for our city”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, shooting over four dozen bullets from a 9mm handgun, a authority informed the Associated Press.

Police that raided the lodging found a pair of pistols and two loaded 30-round magazines when the person of interest was detained, the news agency reported.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, one student was discharged from care, said Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in grave but unchanging health, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the organization. “She was famed for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she aided her club and fellow classmates,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by Umurzokov’s death in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to his relatives, loved ones, and schoolmates and grieve for of his bright future.”
